Full Version: iPXE booting Windows 7 off iSCSI on a Mac?

Greetings to all!

I was just wondering if the following was possible or not. I've been trying to unsuccessfully build a x86_64-elf toolchain to cross-compile iPXE, though I haven't really gotten anywhere with that- I figured I might as well ask and see if what I want to do is even possible to begin with.

I've got a couple of Mac systems here (a classic Mac Pro, and two laptops) and I was wondering if I could netboot Windows 7 via iSCSI on them, preferably through EFI. The only mention I've seen about iSCSI and EFI booting was from two years ago.

Is this now possible?

iSCSI sanboot is not yet possible under UEFI (which is what Macs use). It's on the TODO list, but it is currently lacking funding/developer time.
efi sanboot seems to have been implemented a few days ago: https://git.ipxe.org/ipxe.git/commitdiff...25c2c2f5ad different forum post about this: http://forum.ipxe.org/showthread.php?tid=6896

Not quite yet... the concept has been introduced, but no implementation yet, as I understand it.
