Problem install Windows 10 to iSCSI target - brno - 2020-06-15 12:25 I tried to install Windows 10 on an iSCSI target. The iPXE script managed to load from HTTP and then the first installation dialog appears - there is an ISCSI disk. Then I select the disk and set it as primary and then I format the disk and it went smoothly. And then as the installation started and immediately interrupted the dialog - blue screen of death - BSOD and it says: StopCode: DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL. What failed: dump NDIS.SYS. Can any of you advise where the problem is? DHCP, DNS, WDS, AD are running on the Windows Server and everything is going smoothly. I'm still looking for a solution to the problem. RE: Problem install Windows 10 to iSCSI target - NiKiZe - 2020-06-15 12:34 Most likely your nic driver RE: Problem install Windows 10 to iSCSI target - brno - 2020-06-15 12:55 @NiKiZe I just tried to go through SHIFT + F10 and there is a network card and it works without a problem. Or could you explain to me how to throw the driver in order to pass the installation and not until the BSOD crashes. RE: Problem install Windows 10 to iSCSI target - benson - 2020-07-08 13:23 I had test it use several intel 219V driver, but it's same result , Just its seems has relation with NIC driver, but it has no relation with NIC driver. It can work using migrate OS to iSCSI target server. and boot pc using iPXE from network. Just above information I can offer. RE: Problem install Windows 10 to iSCSI target - rollercoaster - 2020-07-16 01:48 You need to remove the pagefile.sys entry at the registry. RE: Problem install Windows 10 to iSCSI target - scan80269 - 2020-07-18 23:26 There is a known issue with recent versions of Windows 10 being installed to iSCSI target: versions 1903, 1909 and possibly 2004 (not tested). BSOD crash with DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL is the reported symptom of this issue. A workaround involves manually disabling the Windows paging file in the image. 1. Mount install.wim 2. In regedit, load hive \Windows\system32\config\system under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 3. Within the loaded hive, locate the PagingFiles key under \SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management and blank the string. 4. Unload the hive. 5. Unmount install.wim and commit the changes. 6. Update OS installation media with this modified install.wim. Apparently, you have to clear the value post-install.
