after boot iPXE press a key to reboot - wandershade - 2013-11-25 01:14

Hello,

I have a problem with the installation of Windows 7 on the iscsi-target.

As a server I use Debian is unix. Set up isc-dhcp-server, iscsitarget and tftp-server. All settings are made ??as in the examples.

When downloading via PXE see this:

DHCP (net XX:XX:XX:XX:XX) ... ok
Registered as BIOS drive 0x80
Booting from BIOS drive 0x80
Boot falied
Preserving connection to SAN DISK
Could not boot from iscsi:10.222.x.x::::xxxx Operation cancelled 0xb08080a0

The computer should boot from the next device (Like stated in the BIOS, let CD-ROM), but instead I see the message "PRESS A KEY TO REBOOT".

Why is this happening?

I tried to download via gPXE, the situation is the same.

Just tried to enter directly into the command line iPXE:

dhcp net0
set keep-san 1
sanboot iscsi:10.222.X.X:iqn.2013-11.loc.domain.storage:iscsiboot
exit

Result "PRESS A KEY TO REBOOT"

I made it like this: http://www.heath-bar.com/blog/?p=326

My guess is that your BIOS is not setup to boot local CDROM after iPXE, or it is setup to do this, but it just doesn't work (because of some BIOS bug, most likely). To avoid this entire issue, you could try to boot Windows PE as described in http://ipxe.org/howto/winpe and start the Windows installer from an SMB share. That should avoid the problem with the BIOS.
