Problems iPXE booting from iSCSI Target

Due to my Einstein-like brilliance (as in: I could tell you the secret to the universe and then forget how to tie my shoes) I managed to open a thread here, people were nice enough to help and then I accidentally deleted the entire thread... luckily, I had browsed to a reply on my iphone and so I copied all the comments there and will repost them here.
