iPXE and VLAN (what about 802.1x and PKI)
This just came up as a question.
Would something like 802.1x and PKI work with/in iPXE?

I am just curious Smile
Personally i dont know very much about 802.1x or PKI.

iPXE probably has most of the crypto algorithms already implemented. I have no idea about the protocol details for 802.1x.

RE: iPXE and VLAN (what about 802.1x and PKI)
I think that adding 802.1x full support to iPXE will greatly benefit the project. Network security is now actively adding 802.1x to switches to add more security to the network without realizing that this security protocol will break PXE. Michael Brown mentioned that 802.1x is not currently supported in iPXE, but iPXE has EAPOL components that could work with 802.1x.
Has anyone been able to get this to work? Are there any plans to have 802.1x fully supported in iPXE?

Thanks,
