Install into iscsi problem

Install into iscsi problem
Hello,
I have all the settings described in this manual performed.

The problem is that the windows setup give me the following error:
WdsClient:Failed to get an ip address. Be shure DHCP is working...

I'm sure the DHCP service is running properly.

When i run the setup without iPXE, and insert a drive, the windows Setup install.

iPXE self get the right reserved IP.

Can anybody help?

Did you try the ideas suggested in the "Troubleshooting" section at the bottom of the document?

Do you have multiple network interfaces on this machine? I have known WDS complain with that error message if it can't get an address via DHCP for all network interfaces (even if the other interfaces are not needed for the installation to proceed).

Shure, but i cannot view the log files. The Win7 setup restart automaticly new after closing the error dialog.

The "machine" is a VM in Hyper-V. With the normal network card the iscsi target is found and i get the DHCP error. When i remove it, an add a old network card, the Win7 setup starts, but the iscsi is target doesnt find.

You should be able to press Shift-F10 to access the command prompt (and the log files) before you close the error dialog.

sorry for my late answer. I was very busy.

Now i have the log file. Here are the last four lines with the error:

First i tought it would be at the virtual machine, so I moved to real hardware. But here ist the same problem too.

I have checked the correkt ip, and pinged the iSCSI target.
I was able to save the logfile in the iSCSI Target!!!.

Conclusion: Network and ISCSI is ok. Windows notHuh

Any ideas?

Ok, i setup a complete new environment with 1 dc + DNS + DHCP on Win2008 RU2 SP1. As clientsoftware i uses win7 and Win 2008 RU2.

I got the same error.
The hardware was different again, so I think the problem is reproducible.

Which network adapter are you using. Check if you have the latest driver and also try loading the driver from a USB device during Windows installation.

The Setup is broken before i get the change to load any driver.

I have tested different Networkcards. DLink, TPLink, Realtec, Intel and the both cards in Hyper-V.

As I said, Network ist OK. IP is the right which i have reserved in the DHCP Server. I have saved the setupact.log in the iSCSI Target.

When i run the Setup without iPXI the Windows Setup runs complete, but only with a local harddrive.

The Windows setup timesout before the network interface gets a DHCP address. Even though you see the ip address, there are some more things the adapter is doing before returning success to the setup process which timesout.

A wireshark trace of the interaction between the DHCP server and the client machine on which you are running iPXE would be of great help if you can provide one.

How is the client machine connected to the DHCP server ? If it is connected through a switch, then try connecting it back to back and see if it gets the DHCP address quickly.
