iPXE Options w/ Microsoft DHCP & WDS
Hi

I have been working with iPXE for the past week trying to get it to work with my configuration. I was finally able to get it working with the help of a nice little application called: Tiny PXE Server ( http://reboot.pro/topic/18488-tiny-pxe-server/ )

I did have to use iPXE options 175.6.1.1.1.8.1.1 with Tiny PXE Server in order for it to work properly. I would now like to move over to using Microsoft DHCP instead though I am not able to figure out how to add those options in Microsoft DHCP. I was successfully able to get iPXE booted via chainloading with Microsoft DHCP, tftpd32 with Windows Deployment Services disabled. I was not able to find any guides that would really help me with adding the iPXE options in MS DHCP. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to accomplish this?

Also, my current iPXE host setup consists of a PC running Windows Server 2012, MS DHCP & Windows Deployment Services. I can't seem to figure out how to have WDS push out undionly.kpxe file instead of its default boot image. If i disable the WDS service and just let MS DHCP & tftpd32 run, it works though can not get iPXE to keep the SAN registered and fails with a "could not start download: operation not supported (3c092003)" error. I am assuming by adding in the iPXE options listed above will allow this to work.

My goal is to try to have the host with MS DHCP & WDS both work together to push iPXE via PXE booting.

Thanks!

RE: iPXE Options w/ Microsoft DHCP & WDS
You need to do what this howto explains: http://ipxe.org/howto/chainloading

You also need to do what this one says: http://ipxe.org/howto/msdhcp#pxe_chainloading

The first one explains in general what the chainloading concept is, and the second one explains how to configure it on a Microsoft DHCP server.

You might also find some assistance in the documentation, links and tutorials on this site: http://networkboot.org/

To use WDS as a PXE server that you can then chainload iPXE or WDS, I used the excellent article on the syslinux site
