It could be _some_ issue with the iPXE 82579LM driver. I've using the same, just the 82579V model on my motherboard, and I do recall us fixing a bug on that particular card. Could you use ipxe.pxe and run through the driver tests at http://ipxe.org/dev/driver and add a report to the table if it is successful? If you get errors then they should be reported to the mailing-list.
